Engineering a Brighter Future! (The Young Dominican Engineers Club)
Year: 2010
Country: Dominican Republic
Project Status: Funded
Impact Sector: Education
Project Investment: $472.30
Project Launch:
Students at the Fe y Alegria School (Faith & Happiness School) in El Cercadillo, Dominican Republic, live and go to school in a small campo, or village, and do not have many opportunities. Each year a number of students are selected to represent the school district in athletic events either in the neighboring towns of Bani or Azua but limited resources of the school require that the participants pay their own transportation and buy their own food, preventing many qualified students from participating. With a $500 grant from World Connect’s Kids to Kids Program in 2010, students who excelled in chess and track and field and who would not have been able to participate due to costs, were able to participate in Country Games which took place in Santo Domingo.Explore other Projects
