Arewa Bookhub
Project Launch: 12-22-22
Statistics have shown there is a high level of students in northern Nigeria who cannot spell, read or express themselves in simple sentences. Reports have shown that Nigeria is experiencing learning poverty in which 70 percent of 15-year-olds in the north cannot understand a simple sentence. This statistic also accounts for over 60% of girls who cannot read. This project addresses the huge educational challenge facing northern Nigeria (kano state especially). This project is a 3 month literacy program, focused on students in Sabongari community. This project will improve the literacy rate among secondary school girls in Sagongari community by promoting a healthy reading culture among 1200 students by providing access to a reading hub for all the students in the community to access books.
